One of the great tastemakers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Eugenia Huici Arguedas de Errázuriz (18601951) was born int o a wealthy Chilean mining family in Bolivia. She married amateur painter José Tomás Errázuriz, and while honeymooning in Europe the couple quickly became favourites in a group of artists that included John Singer Sargent and Auguste Rodin.
